Wine-cellar

The wine cellar of the Alfaia Restaurant features a unique selection of wines built over these more than 130 years and where you can find wines of the most interesting regions of Portugal, reds, whites, rosés, green, reserves, rarities, private collections, magnums, Ports, Tawny, harvests, vintages, LBV, Madeira wines, Muscats, Whiskies, brandies, Sparkling Wines, spirits and other drinks that we will be happy to recommend to start, accompany or finish in perfection your meal in Alfaia.

Portugal and the Portuguese enjoy a very close relationship with the so-called ‘nectar of the gods’. Wine is part of our history, our traditions and our culture. It is one of the strong features of the identity of ‘Being Portuguese’. Our grandparents use to say ‘wine and bread, warms the heart.’ Portugal was the first country worldwide to have a demarcated region, the Douro Region, registered by the Marquis of Pombal in 1765, today a World Heritage Site.

A wide variety of portuguese wines that results in ‘happy pairings’ starting on the appetizers and extending beyond the dessert that are sublimated with many good options of ports and muscats. In the Cave of the Day are the red wines for daily service, air-conditioned at a temperature of 18ºC. In the wine cellar the wines to hold, at a temperature between 14ºC/16ºC.

Here we present you some of the many references that you can taste in Alfaia.

The importance of the wine at the table

The wine enhances flavors and gives even more meaning to the pleasures of the table, and as such is drunk for pleasure. First, we must choose the wine that gives us more pleasure, regardless of the prevailing myths. Secondly, if you are undecided, with curiosity, or the willingness to try new harvests / references, you can request help to better pair the wine with the dish chosen. Talk to us, there is always something new to try, and old to finish.

NOur suggestions always take into account the price/quality factors and you may choose different ways to enjoy your wine of choice: the wine cup service from € 3,00; half bottles from € 6,90, and bottles from € 10,00 up to € 7,500.00 (in this case the rarities). Always sure to make a good option.

Cup Service

Upon arriving at Alfaia do not get surprised to see several different glasses on the tables. There is no mistake. We have, as a rule, different glasses for the different types of wine.
